I was def. going to apply to UW-Madison, but out of state the college is pretty expensive? Do they give good aid?
I'm asking the same for Michigan and Boston College, mainly. I don't think I'd need it for McGill, because they're downright cheap.
I heard BU has crappy aid, so I think I'll save my $70 (?) app. fee for somewhere else, like Dartmouth (b/c they love URMs, and I'm native american).

State schools always give more aid to kids from their own state. If you can't really afford it, look into your own state school. FOr example: I'm from Wisconsin and for some reason I never wanted to go to Madison. I looked for other schools. I finally settled for U of Illinois-Urbana-Champagne. After a month I realized that it basicly a clone of Madison only in different state and would also cost me more. So there was really no point for me to go there and pay more. So look at you own state school and see if it is really that much different from Madison. Probably not. And remember: It's not the college you go to that defines you, it's you who will eventually shape your future. So don't sweat it.

I'm going to apply to Madison (2nd choice)... out of state don't expect much, and from Michigan expect a laugh. However for out of state, UW and UM are very similar and the 8k/yr less for UW is very appealing.
