My EFC = 0
Pell Grant = 4050
University Grant = 6236
Work Study = 2000
Loans = 5900
Total est cost of attending: 18,136
Total aid offered: 18,136

Good? Bad? Ugly?
I'm a Cali resident...if that matters.

Quite a bit of loans, but any scholarships you get should help out if UCLA applies it against loans. If it doesn't, well... still pretty damn good, not to mention that you have full tuition covered.

That's a great offer. The grants pay your full in-state fees and then some. Keep in mind that the $18K estimate is based on an average calculation as to what students pay for housing and incidentals. If you live frugally, you can cut down a lot on that, so you might not need the full loan amount. You aren't required to accept the full loan amount - so I would suggest that you accept the financial aid plus loan for the first quarter, but if you find that your costs are coming in under the expected amount, you can turn down the loans for winter/spring.

I just got Cal's...didn't write it down, but it was essentially:
Cal Bears Scholarship: 3200
Federal SEOG: 500
Federal Pell: 4050
University Grant: 1200
Vet benefits: 8900
Now, the Vet benefits I think are my GI Bill? If that's the case, then Cal's is about 8k less than UCLA. If I count the 8900 for my GI Bill, then UCLA's comes out to $27k, and Cal is only aroun $17k.
Looks like I'm a Bruin!

Congrats, MG. Drop me a line or pop up here when you get on campus and I'll spot you a lunch.

Hello...I was just wondering if there were any "special" qualifications for receiving the Univ Grant or the Univ Fee Grant, or is it just for anyone who needs it?
