Hi, I was wondering if you think I have a chance EA. I have 4.53 weighted (AP 5, Honors 4.5, Regular 4) and 4.0 unweighted, #1 in class (history of school, too); on APs: 7 5s, 1 4, 1 3 (National AP Scholar); 1600 SAT; now I have a 2250 on the three SATs (hopefully I'll have the 2400 after this latest round); National Merit Semifinalist; this year I have 14 AP tests. So, that's the good news. Bad news is I have very few ECs: I sit around playing classical guitar for a couple hours a day, but haven't played in band or orchestra. I played guitar freshman and sophomore on the school team, but only play once a week these days. My Rubik's cube club was relegated to a subsection of the Math club. I haven't done much service work. I've done APCS, a couple years of math and a couple of years of Latin independent study, which occupy most of my free time. So, what do you think my chances are (w/ pretty good academics, but no ECs to speak of)? (Also, do you think they will hold the AP 3 and 4 against me; they are from sophomore year, when I foolishly relied on my teachers to teach me).

They do still take people like you. The majority of people they take are well rounded, but they also take some hardcore "nerds" and also some relatively smart jocks. If all the people they admitted were leaders, then who would join the groups? There needs to be a happy medium, and they realize that.
