I really like Brown and I'm applying RD. The other day, my dad proposed that I apply to the PLME program because I'm interested in going to medical school, but I looked around on the Brown website and didn't find much about it. Some questions:
1. If I apply to PLME, am I agreeing to a binding B.S. or B.A./M.D. program?
2. Can I decide I don't want to go to Brown Med during my junior or senior year and apply to other medical schools (or other grad schools, for that matter)?
3. Are my chances of being accepted RD lowered by applying to Brown through the PLME program?
4. Do I have to follow a certain, specific course of study if I'm accepted through the PLME program and enroll in it?
5. If I'm accepted to Brown through the PLME program, can I still go to Brown but not as a PLME student?
Thanks a lot.

1. No
2. Yes
3. If you're applying to Brown only for PLME, yes, if you agree to be considered even if you don't make the PLME program, no.
4. You have to take certain courses, but you can major in anything you so desire.
5. It's an 8 year med program...It's not accelerated. For the first 4 years, you're nothing but a Brown student. PLME just guarantees admission to Brown's med school.

I'm a student, not PLME...The girl who lives across the hall from me is though, so I've picked up a bit of information on the program.

Jnatkins- Thanks for replying. Your information was helpful for me too, as I am a prospective PLME student.
I was wondering if you would be able to find an answer to my question. I want to apply ED to the program, and I the only reason I don't want to stay bound to the school is because of the tuition issue. I love Brown, but I want to keep my options open in case I don't get admitted into the PLME and am offered scholarships or more aid elsewhere.
Do you know if not being bound ED to the school as well is a detriment to the applicant? I've heard that it is, but I was just wondering if you had any knowledge or ideas about it.
Thanks!
