i am also the co-ceo of a teen-owned clothing company that two friends from school and i established in december of 2002. we've been featured in three different newspapers, have sold hundreds of items of merchandise, and have had response from all over the nation, and even from places like brazil and turkey. we were invited to spyfest on the queen mary, we have an official business plan published, ficticious name license, all that jazz, its been crazy. and its something unique.

do i have the numbers, ec balance, and overall unique enough of a resume to get into these places? with three varsity letters, two in athletics and one academic, as well as experience in student govt, school newspaper, tutoring, community service, etc etc, is that enough to boost myself past all the 1600-er's and 5.0-er's out there?

Pretty good if you ask me.
Maybe get your history SAT II over 700, or try another subject. But other than that I think you have a very good chance. That is only a minor issue anyways.

The reality of the matter is, Harvard gets around 20,000 applicants every year for freshmen. They only have around 1600 spots for new first years, and there are more than 1600 people that are fully qualified to go to Harvard. So even if you are perfectly qualified, it doesn't really guarantee you a spot. It's almost like luck.

Make sure you get good teacher recommendations, as well as make sure to write some good essays. I wouldn't worry about your 1440 on your SAT I, that is good enough in my opinion. You should have a decent chance to get admitted.
