Is sending 3 teacher recommendations frowned upon? What if the third comes from not a classroom teacher but a mathletes coach who could talk about my problem solving ability?

Same question here. I got a recommendation from a TF and my counselor let me read it. I don't think its something as good as I could get from my teachers so would it help if I sent it as a third?

Same question. Would it help to send in a 3rd recommendation? I'm asking my proctor to write me a recommendation as not only my proctor for the summer but also as a friend.

Also, what do you guys think about having a best friend write a rec?

Well, I'd say no on the best friend writing a rec unless the college asks for it.

But I'd also like to know the answer about whether to send in a third recommendation.

Oh and also, is the 3rd recommendation suppose to be sent separately like the teacher recs or included with the common app and supplement?

FRIENDS ARE A BIG NO. unless its like something special - someone who was on the downtrack for several years and you volunteered in the agency that helps them and grew to a best friend relationship and now you collaborated to start a program for teenage mothers and travel around the country helping those in need...
