Im deciding on doing this EC where i travel to Nepal and help build a school in a rural village there. I have the opportunity but I am not sure if it is worth putting down on my application to harvard. Is it going to help a lot...like improve my chances a lot?? Please reply ASAP!

It will help you - colleges will see that you're interested in helping the less fortunate - but it won't REALLY improve your chances as these things are extremely expensive and, more and more, exchange programs and habitat for humanity etc. are becoming sort of an upper-class thing to tell your kids to do just because they can and it would be a "good experience" (at least where I live). Of course there are many people who do these trips on their own motivation not just because they can, but because they feel a deep obligation and need to, a heartfelt desire to give back to the world. These people will raise the money themselves, if possible and necessary, and are the type of people Harvard is looking for. If you fit that description, make this clear on your application through an essay. If not, this type of thing can be extremely fun and will still help you a bit as well as of course greatly helping some people in Nepal so on all accounts going is recommended if you've got the money. Good luck
