No where on the application does it say I cannot apply to an Early ACTION school along with my Early Decision to UPenn.

Can someone check up on this for me and see if I would be able to apply to both Upenn ED and MIT EA

don't quote me on this.

i think you can apply to both, but if you're accepted to penn you have to go to penn.

if you applied to other early action schools plus MIT, then you'd have a choice.

that being said, what are your interests? penn and MIT are very very different places. are you applying to be a vagelos scholar at penn? M&T?

if you're just applying to sloan because it's #2 on US news, know that it's very different place than wharton, not so much in quality but in ambience. stern is much more like wharton.

M&T...if I don't get in, then vagelos scholar (bioengineering major)

Before you apply to these competetive programs, I think you should carefully learn what you're actually applying to. Vagelos Scholar Program is specifically for Biochemistry and Chemistry, and has nothing to do with bioengineering.

When I inquired about the program, they said that anyone could signify if they would want to be considered for the Vagelos Scholar Program. If deferred to bioengineering I would like to be considered for the Vagelos program (or transfer to biochemistry to do Vagelos?)

i'd say go for it, but your why penn essay might be kind of weird if you're applying for M&T along with vagelos. it'll look like you're just applying to all the prestigious science programs without looking at what they are.

M&T students usually just use the program as a signalling effort to get a good job. they might specialize in some tech sector, but they never really use the engineering they learn. they also usually do systems engineering, which normal SEAS students say is useless.

vagelos is heavily research-based, and grads go to med school, get phd's, or the like. they don't go to wall street like the M&T's.

if you're interested in science but don't have a clear idea of where you want to go i think MIT is better for you.

no you can't do that. you can't apply to M&T (Wharton and SEAS) then ask to be deferred to Vagelos (College). You have to be deferred to either Wharton or SEAS (bioengineering)
