Well heres me... Do I have any shot at all at Harvard?
16 year old White Male from Suburban New Orleans (applying from a school which has never sent anyone to an IVY)
Applying as a History Major
GPA: 3.86 (my school grades on the 94-100 A, 94-87 B, 86-75 C, 75-70 D, 69-0 F scale)
Class Rank: 6/ ~150
SATs: 1500 800 V/ 700 M
SAT IIs: Yet to take, Will take Writing, Literature, and US History
(Lived in Iceland half my high school life, so ECs are sorta half and half)
ECs:
Poetry Club
Poetry Magazine : Editor, Contributor
Quiz Bowl - Captain
Chess Club /Chess Class (I took private lessons from a chess pro)
Tutored younger HS students
Church Youth Group - Senior Member
National Junior Honor Society
Summer Volunteer work at Library
Missions Trip to Germany
Team Science Competition in England (Honestly can't remember the name of the competition)
etc etc...there a few more but most of the rest are minor
Anyway, what do you guys think? Should I even waste the money applying? What can I do in the next few months to strengthen my App?
