i was just looking at dartmouth's common app supplement and didnt see an extra essay. did i just miss it, or is there none for me to do? do they only look at your common app essay and the extra friend rec?

That in addition to your transcript, SAT I & II scores, EC's, Class rank (if school ranks) rigor of your curriculum based on the school profile, GC and teacher recs
