Since Wharton is so selective, I was thinking of applying to another division in the school: nursing or college of penn. Then, after I get accepted can I change my major to business. Any thoughts? Thank you for any help!

Getting into Wharton from high school is actually easier than getting into it from within Penn College.

how is that

well, for starters, you have to take a good number of the classes wharton students take their first year before applying. . . and do well in them. which is hard to fit in when you have only 4 classses and all wharton students have 5. it's kind of a gamble in that way. plus, i think they'd rather have someone new from another university altogether.

you could always double.

someone told me you can transfer to wharton if you have a 3.7+ in Penn college

what if i'm accepted to wharton and decide it's not for me, is it easier to transfer to the college from wharton, or from the colllege to wharton

transfering from wharton to the college is a cakewalk

So what you guys are saying is, I need to have a 3.7 and take an extra class to get into wharton. Does this gaurantee me a position in Wharton?

Any thoughts on if getting into the business school is easier than the college itself?

Thank you guys for all the replies.

Nothing is ever guaranted..in fact it will be harder than just applying straight from HS. Don't apply thinking that you could get in from the nursing school or college. I mean...a wannabe business major in the nursing school? Apply to Wharton, but if you dont get in go to the college and major in econ. Better yet, look at other schools. I know i am all about Wharton, but look into Michigan, UVA, Georgetown, NYU, etc.. Companies love recruiting from these schools and would prob have a better chance from these places that at Penn college.
Think about it.

just so you know the admissions people try really hard to weed out the "backdoor whartonites" so they will sometimes flat out deny you if they think that you are a backdoor whartonite. Don't be a wimp just apply straight to wharton and take it like a man...
