Did anyone here choose Dartmouth over Penn college or wharton? why did you make that decision? Can i not drink and attend frat parties? do they have coke and root beer? thx

The decision to drink or not to drink is a personal one. The fact is that drinking is on all campuses. There are also Frats & drinking at Penn. I believe for the most part that the drinkers were already drinking before they get to campus. If someone cannot respect that you are not a drinker, maybe you don't need to be with that crowd.

Daughter is not a drinker, went to a Frat pary on Saturday night and said he had a WONDERFUL time.

Hi sybbie. I am not really sure what frats really are, but isn 't drinking the main thing at frats? I thought Penn was more open to options because it had Philadelphia. Thanks for your input.

It's really a basic choice about preference in school type for me. 4,000 undergrads at Dartmouth or 9,000 at Penn? Urban or rural? I chose Dartmouth for both of those questions, and I've also been more impressed with the feelings I get from the student body / student life of Dartmouth.

Willywonka, did you choose over Penn college?

If your talking about not wanting to drink, then choose Dartmouth.

Drinking and partying is pretty much a given at Penn

how would you know when you haven't attended either?

Well, Kim, I'm in the same grade as you, so I haven't really chosen anything yet. In a way, though, I have chosen Dartmouth over Penn because I'm not interested in the latter and I do not plan to apply, whereas Dartmouth is at the top of my list.

Both Penn and Dartmouth have frat scenes and drinking--I've never been to Penn, so I don't know if they put pressure on you there to drink or not. I know they don't at Dartmouth. It's very laid back, you can do whatever you're comfortable with. I do drink socially but some of my friends choose not to, and they still go out with us and have a great time. Even on the football team, where you think there'd be a lot of pressure among the players to go out and get hammered, I know some guys who choose to drink very little or not at all. I suppose there are some teams or cliques of friends where it might be hard to be a non-drinker, but I definitely think you can find your niche.
