Hi. Does the interview have to be conducted by someone in your area? Or can you designate who you'd like to be interviewed by? I know an alumnus - distant family acquaintance - that has offered to interview me - is that allowed? Thanks.

No, you can not pick the person who interviews you. The chair of the local schools committee makes that determination. In general, it is not considered good form for a student to be interviewed by someone whom the student already knows.
