College Discussion Forums: Ivy League Schools: University of Pennsylvania: Early Decision - Midyear Reports?

I'm applying early -

Can I wait until midterm grades (January) to send the midyear report even though its after decisions are made?

Or do I send first quarter grades, which come out Nov 24?

Either way, will they get there in time?

i don't think they consider the midyear report, someone please correct me if im wrong. however i do believe it has to be filled out and sent to penn if you get in or are deferred so they can see how youre doing. you know, what if joe bloggs takes 8 AP's and applies to penn ED thinking that his courseload alone gets him in, and they let him in, and they didnt see the grades. midterm report comes and bloggs is failing everything but ap lunch.

ive heard of colleges calling guidance offices in late november asking for quarter grades though.

this is mostly speculation, but i want to help you out.

Yeah, they usually make calls about first quarter grades to kids they are interested in. Penn is famous for this kind of stuff. Also, you need to send in the mid-year report after the semester, so they can make sure that you are doing fine in classes. Chocoman knows his/her stuff!

If you are applying ED, then your transcript including first quarter grades of your senior year are sent by the guidance counselor to the college along with the counselor recommendation.

If your are deferred to the RD pool or are applying RD, the midyear report (due to the school around Feb. 15) is sent to the school
