well I think you're golden. your minority/welfare stats + grants + decent scores give you bigs marks. do you do anything else besides research?
I am similar to you, but higher scores and higher incomes. I'm applying to yale ea. good luck.

rumor has it that whoever gets into RSI automatically gets into MIT.
Fact: The dean of MIT admission is on RSI admission committee

I wouldn't worry about the test scores with the rest of what is there.

I don't really think RSI's an automatic pathway to mit... I'm only applying to college this year (I'm from Singapore), and last year not every single rickoid in my batch who applied to mit got in... most did of course, but it's not a 100% guarantee... But looking at your impressive stats, i think you stand a pretty high chance!

Medicare? Don't you mean Medicaid? I don't know if you're "golden" or not. I had all those things and an even lower income, African-American, first generation, mid-1400 SAT score and I got waitlisted. This was RD, though and I didn't have RSI.

RSi03er
It's harder for international to get into US colleges because they tend to be more selective.
candi
there are both medicare and medicaid, but I guess in my case, you're right, it is medicaid because i'm not over 65. Saying "you had all those things" is pretty vague, plus you did get into Yale right?
Every situation is different.

"Had all those things" meaning that my family is on foodstamps and receives Section-8 subsidy housing. And yes, I did get into Yale, so I'm not complaining.
Sorry if my post sounded cynical to you (truly didn't intend it to be). I wish you all the best of luck.

should I apply there?
