hello, I am a senior applying ED to penn...my school does not rank (which SUX for me cuz i know unofficially that im 1/450) i wasn't so upset because i thought that all colleges ask the counsellor to write the highest gpa anyway so they'd know i was number 1. however, penn's app does not ask for the highest gpa in the class...so am i going to be just top 10% or 5% which is still shared with 25-45 others...isn't that a huge disadvantage to me?? comments appreciated!!

why don't you write it in the academic achievement area of the ap? If they're unsure, they can call the school and ask if you are really #1...and the school will have to be honest.

Do you have other really strong hooks? Whether it's listed or not, I don't think rank is THAT important.

Many of the great high schools don't calculate GPAs or rank their students. Penn's historical traditions are to avoid such flagrant comeptition.
