College Discussion Forums: Ivy League Schools: University of Pennsylvania: Musician question

I'm a bass guitar enthusiast. I'm planning on applying to Wharton, although im not gonna minor in music or anything. Basically I love playing, ive been playing for a while, but I'm not one to join a big band or minor in music or anything. I was talking to friends at local colleges and they talk about being able to jam on the school's amps and drumsets. Is this possible at Penn? Like if i bring my bass to school, and meet some dudes to jam with, can I just waltz into the music department and play on their stuff? Or do I have to be a music student? can anyone relate?

related question: from what you guys have seen, is there enough room in a dorm room to keep a guitar/bass guitar? so i mean is it practical to bring it along with me? or will it just get in the way

argh, bump, is there no penn student who wants to jam out there?

Penn is full of musicians and singers. If you want to jam all night long I suggest you apply to Mask & Wig (a specific dorm in the quad, Spruce) that is geared toward music lovers and has its own music room.

yeah i gotcha, that sounds cool. i dunno if thats for me though, it would seem as if hardcore musicians (ie all-state, professional people) go there. I'm just talkin about like casual jamming. Does anyone know if school equipment is open to random student musicians?
