I was planning to apply SCEA to Yale... until I got Brown's app and found out that they just switched to EA! I LOVE both schools for very different reasons, and I'm not sure what to do. My stats make it so that both are quite far reaches, though my transcript is pretty good. Here they are in brief:
ACT: 32 (34W, 31M, 31R, 29S-yuck)
SATI: 660M, 710V
Should I retake one of these?
GPA: 3.99 (UW)
Rank: 4
SAT II: 800 Writing, 740 English Lit, 710 US His
APs: 5 English Lit, 4 Bio, 4 US Govt, 4 US His
Have taken the hardest courses all four years. Switched high schools after Sophmore year in order to be more challenged. Taken college courses for past two years (now in senior-level English at Lewis and Clark college).
My mom, uncle, and aunt all went to Brown, so that'll help there.
Should I put all my eggs in one basket and apply EA?
Or should I try to balance my apps and get a little boost at Yale, too, from applying EA? My mom also was the associate chaplain at Yale back in the 80s, by the way... but that doesn't make me a legacy.
Any help is great appreciated. Thanks!

brown. you have a much better shot. you won't get into yale prolly, because your stats aren't in their range and nothing sets you apart, but you have a great shot at brown b/c of the legacy thing (it's HUGE at brown).
i'd say you have a great chance there.

According to their application that they sent me they did. I know, it shocked me, too. Maybe I should call...?

According to my application "The Early Decision Plan is for those admission applicants who have selected Brown as their first-choice college and who WILL attend Brown if admitted as an Early Decision candidate."
Brown is not EA.

Seriously, though, I appreciate everyone's advice. If you have any insight into how to strengthen my application or any suggestions for other schools that might both match my stats and fit under the criteria of a deeply intellectual school with an extremely strong drama department, I would be very grateful. Thank you!
