Are you actually going to write an essay essay or just talk about yourself in it. I was going to write about myself in a direct way that talks about my family situation, I wasn't planning on anything major.

I was, as well, planning to opt for the direct approach.
As in "hey, here's my application, but let's step away from it for a little bit, pull back the curtain, and be exposed to the uninhibited person behind it." Not that my app. won't be descriptive of myself. But the supp. will more so.
