Black men from Mississippi do not typically score as high as you do. Consequently, you're going to stand out in at least one way from typical African American applicants from the Deep South. I think that pretty much any school will wonder why your GPA is so low, but the combination of scores, extracurricular achievement and geography will help to compensate. My guess is that you have a pretty good shot at Brown, despite the red flags.

Yeah I am working on the GPA anticipating a 3.8 first quarter gpa maybe a 4.0 for semester since my AP teachers are going to a ten point scale this year.

I agree with Argus. If you can frame your ECs under an overarching umbrella perhaps of community service or of mentoring/work in your intended area of education it probably couldn't hurt either. Are you thinking of ED or RD? Are you taking any APs this year?

If you're gonna take the World History SAT II you probably should buy the Barron's guide. It is harder than the test but it is also very thorough and it can't hurt.

Best of Luck

A continuing challenging courseload. It certainly can't hurt. What are you taking at the college?

I'm curious, What draws you to Brown, Dart and Cornell that you would be deadlocked between the 3? They are quite different schools.

Best of Luck
