i read on another thread that if you are planning to apply to SEAS, one of your reccomendations must be from a math teacher...t/f?
for example, if u were applying for chem engineering, wouldnt a chem teacher suffice?

The first recommendation (Form A) has to be from a math teacher. I don't remember the second one having to be from a specific teacher when I applied, but I'm pretty sure a chem teacher might work for Form B. Personally, I'd suggest an English or history teacher in case you're applying to other selective schools, which sometimes require one math/science and one humanities recommendation. You won't have to inconvenience yourself with as much work if you get all your recs from the same people that way.

Students are admitted to SEAS as a whole, so I'm not entirely sure whether the your declared major has a bearing on the admissions process, and thus the subjects for which your recommending teachers instructed you will not affect the AdCom's decision, keeping all other factors constant.
