Borderline, stats wise. Your weak schedule F-J may hurt.

Get cracking on some essays.

By Stanmaster22 (Stanmaster22) on Monday, June 21, 2004 - 11:49 pm: Edit

what do you mean weak classes. i took all honors classes and took the hardest courses available to me.

By Tge (Tge) on Tuesday, June 22, 2004 - 12:15 am: Edit

dont mention who's who. its a scam.

By Noodleman (Noodleman) on Tuesday, June 22, 2004 - 08:04 am: Edit

Just guessing based on the similarity of your weighted and unweighted gpa. If I'm wrong, I apologize.

Go ahead and apply! And good luck!

what do your SATIIs look like?

if you have good SATIIs, i'd say you have good chances.

if you can get the SATIs up another 100 pts, i'd say you have excellent chances.

Is cornell a good match or reach for me?

By Stargzrlilychk1 (Stargzrlilychk1) on Tuesday, June 29, 2004 - 01:37 am: Edit

its a reach, but you still have time to buffer up your stats. if u want to put it into your "match" range:
1. retake the SATs (aim for at least 40 or 50 more points)
2. retake the SAT II writing and one other. you want to aim for 3 scores close to or over 700.
3. write some KILLER essays
4. hunt down some great recommendations

also dont write the Who's Who thing. they send that out to everyone and colleges don't have any respect for it. best of luck!

ps: what school are u applying to?

By Stanmaster22 (Stanmaster22) on Tuesday, June 29, 2004 - 01:40 am: Edit

Here is my potential list:
1.Harvard
2.Dartmouth
3.Northwestern
4.Georgetown
5.Notre dame
6.cornell
7.chicago
8.bowdoin
9.bates
10. michigan
11.boston university
12. binghamton
What do you think?

By Stargzrlilychk1 (Stargzrlilychk1) on Tuesday, June 29, 2004 - 02:23 am: Edit

no i meant which school within cornell. interest in your school/major plays a pretty big part in many of the departments at cornell. but while youre asking...

Harvard-high reach
Dart- mid reach
Northwestern- mid reach
Georgetown- mid reach
Notre Dame- mid reach
cornell- mid reach
chicag0- low reach
bowdoin- match
bates- match
mich- match
BU- match
bing- safety

its a good list but you definitely need to add another safety, just in case there's an aid problem or something. apply somewhere your SURE to get in and a scholarship.

If I get a 1400 on my SAT in the fall will that improve my chances?

By Hdotchar (Hdotchar) on Tuesday, July 06, 2004 - 11:59 pm: Edit

i think you'll do fine. i was accepted to Cornell, but declined to go there for engineering, and i'm going to attend University of Washington (full scholarship). i got in with a pretty low gpa sophmore year (3.4 ~ish) because i got a F and dropped from a class (Comp Sci) sophmore year for a little hacking incident. i persuaded the school to drop it from my record, but my gpa wouldn't be fixed. nevertheless i still got into Cornell (not waitlisted mind you)

I just got a 32 on my ACT . Does this increase my chances?

By E1c2c3c (E1c2c3c) on Saturday, July 10, 2004 - 09:49 pm: Edit

Stanmaster22,

Although, your SAT isn't really high, your ACT score would make up for it. I don't know how competitive the AEM has gotten lately (I did hear the rumor that the most recent acceptance rate for AEM was in the low 20%), but with your stats I think you are a very competitive applicant. If you apply under ED, I think you have a really good chance of getting in.

By E1c2c3c (E1c2c3c) on Saturday, July 10, 2004 - 09:53 pm: Edit

By the way, just to follow up my last post. I actually found the AEM's freshman acceptance rate for fall 2004 from their website. Here is the stat: Freshman Applications, Fall 2004
Total Applications: 680
Total Admitted: 131 (19%)

The numbers are listed on the lowest section of this link:

I've been looking at cornell's majors and schools and i think i've changed my mind. I probably now will apply to the school of industrial and labor relations. Also I'm thinking about only sending my ACT scores because Sat 2's are not required. What do you think about these two decisions?

By E1c2c3c (E1c2c3c) on Monday, July 12, 2004 - 03:38 pm: Edit

I guess it would be better for you to just send in the ACT score. Although, SAT2 scores are not required, Cornell strongly recommends you to send them in. Don't worry too much about your SAT2 scores, they are fine. The SAT2 scores can only help you. If you like industrial and labor relations, then ILR is an excellent choice. But, if you really want to study business, then ILR might not be the ideal choice.

By Stanmaster22 (Stanmaster22) on Monday, July 12, 2004 - 10:10 pm: Edit

Would cornell be a match or reach for me if I only send in my ACT scores?

By Stanmaster22 (Stanmaster22) on Saturday, July 24, 2004 - 12:06 pm: Edit

Match or Reach?

By Starmel (Starmel) on Sunday, July 25, 2004 - 01:56 am: Edit

It definitely think u will be in for ILR. I'm got in ED for c/o "08" and I'm also a URM w/ a lower ACT score than you. (I only my submitted the ACT score) I did have more awards and leadership positions though. Either way, you are a excellent applicant and you will do fine ED.
