Discus: Ivy League Schools: Columbia University: 2004 Archive: Post-deposit Mailings?

It seems like Columbia is a bit quiet on the mailings front. Appears as if my friends who are going to Cornell, Harvard, UPenn all received t-shirts/large packages/email addresses after sending in deposit. Has anybody received anything from Columbia after May 1st?

And does anybody know when we get our Columbia.edu email address?

columbia's the aloof ivy. don't worry; i haven't gotten anything either.

Haha yeah, don't worry too much about it. Hell, I never even received a confirmation of receipt of my application... It's all a part of the whole independent-Columbia-student experience, you know ;) From what I hear (don't quote me on this, as I'm probably pulling it out my ass...), mailings will begin in late June or so. But argh, I want my damn Columbia mail! haha :P

And yes, I can't wait to start giving out my @columbia.edu address to friends... hehe ;)

ha! i got an @columbia.edu e- mail address from the summer program last year- definitely screwed with a few people's minds. :-D it's also cool cause i can see a lot of stuff that only the students have access to and i get all the mailings about events on campus- very cool.

When do we get @columbia.edu emails anyway? Does anyone who is attending Columbia know?

Capy, what recent stuff have you gotten from them? Any updates/information? Can you post it here?

By Capy (Capy) on Tuesday, May 18, 2004 - 12:28 am: Edit

not much actually. earlier this year i got e- mails about the 250 anniversary events, i've gotten a couple on how to protect your computer from viruses and stop it from spreading to network at columbia. other random things include information about the blood drive, a limited time dell discount, and finally an e- mail from columbia engineering about women in engineering (in december)- part 1 of 3, thought i never recieved part 2 or 3... but yeah- nothing really of great informative value to us... :-/

i got my advising packet today.

i also got some letter about SEXUAL DYSFUNCTION from the med school.

By Soulofheaven8 (Soulofheaven8) on Tuesday, May 18, 2004 - 06:45 pm: Edit

What do they recommend for the sexual shortcomings?

What's in the advising packet? Anyone else got it?

By Godis (Godis) on Tuesday, May 18, 2004 - 09:00 pm: Edit

eh, i didn't read it. the dysfunction one is part of the usual medical junk that they send my dad, who's a psychiatrist.

the advising packet contains stuff about the freshman and sophomore years. core curriculum, intro level classes, pre (med, business, law), and ap credit. it also talked about the advising system, which supposedly is nearly nonexistant (but they didn't say that). also, there were things about family planning sessions.

It's Friday and I've received nothing. Anyone in the same boat?

By Godis (Godis) on Friday, May 21, 2004 - 04:52 pm: Edit

ho ho ho... you're really missing out. the academic planning guide for new students 2004-2005 COLUMBIA Columbia University in the City of New York (so says the cover) is hair-falling-out fun! on the cover, it's got these two people with funky teeth... showing us their teeth, and they're wearing PANTS. inside, they've got all these addresses for YOU.

By Bananabean (Bananabean) on Friday, May 21, 2004 - 05:06 pm: Edit

i haven't received anything yet...don't worry soul

By Soulofheaven8 (Soulofheaven8) on Friday, May 21, 2004 - 05:16 pm: Edit

wow, they are wearing PANTS? and we get to see their teeth too? Can't wait!

(lol Godis, your post sort of reminded me of my Columbia application, on which I carelessly wrote location location in successive)
