anybody admitted off the waitlist?

By Econrobot (Econrobot) on Wednesday, May 12, 2004 - 08:32 pm: Edit

I'm wondering the same thing. It seems the other ivies have notified waitlistees. I guess we'll just have to wait.

By Bischiavelli (Bischiavelli) on Wednesday, May 12, 2004 - 10:52 pm: Edit

yeah... we'll just have to wait...
or, Yale might not be planning to admit anyone off the wait list... lol

By Econrobot (Econrobot) on Wednesday, May 12, 2004 - 11:12 pm: Edit

that would definitely suck. I'm just trying to be optimistic at this point, even though the chances are extremely slim. Best of luck to you.

By Bischiavelli (Bischiavelli) on Wednesday, May 12, 2004 - 11:39 pm: Edit

yeah... I hope that is not the case...
hey Enconrobot, where did you send your deposit?

By Econrobot (Econrobot) on Wednesday, May 12, 2004 - 11:49 pm: Edit

I sent my deposit to Emory because I got a very nice merit scholarship as part of the Emory Scholars Program. I like Emory, but Yale is still my top choice. How about you?

By Bischiavelli (Bischiavelli) on Thursday, May 13, 2004 - 12:53 am: Edit

I have sent mine to Dartmouth...
have you tried calling Yale admission office?

By Econrobot (Econrobot) on Thursday, May 13, 2004 - 04:53 pm: Edit

Bischiavelli, I haven't called the Yale admission office, but I have sent my regional rep e-mails, letters, and newspaper articles about my recent accomplishments, mainly a top 4 finish at Fed Challenge Nationals. I don't know if I'm bothering admissions with all this stuff, but I just want to show them that I am still very interested. Plus, the waitlist letter said that they wouldn't take action on the apps until mid-May. So, its not technically mid-May. So, maybe there's still hope.

i sent my deposit to duke...all i did was send in the waitlist card...i didnt call or write anything...im so sick of this process by now i couldnt even sit myself down in front of the computer to write another letter

By Econrobot (Econrobot) on Thursday, May 13, 2004 - 06:07 pm: Edit

it's definitely frustrating

By Bischiavelli (Bischiavelli) on Thursday, May 13, 2004 - 07:33 pm: Edit

there seem to be quite a few admitted off the wait list at Princeton and Harvard...

I wonder when Yale would launch into recruiting wait listees... May 15th? or later than that??

By Econrobot (Econrobot) on Friday, May 14, 2004 - 05:32 pm: Edit

Okay, so I emailed my regional rep and he said that they are still unsure about whether they will be going to the wl or not. He said that they had a high yield and that they will most likely reduce the number of students on the waitlist and place the most promising on a smaller waitlist next week and then eventually select students from there. So, there isn't much hope left. Good luck.

Econrobot...could you post the full text of that e-mail? Sounds like it is pretty much over, though. Thank you.

By Jmancer (Jmancer) on Monday, May 17, 2004 - 12:15 pm: Edit

econrobot, that sounds like Dartmouth's position this year.

The thing that sucks for yale WL is that the number of schools with more to offer than Yale is very small - Harvard, and possibly Princeton or Stanford.

By Anonymous1989 (Anonymous1989) on Monday, May 17, 2004 - 12:49 pm: Edit

uhh...what the school has to offer is largely a matter of personal preference. The way you put it almost seems like harvard is superior. It's not.

Grad school, on the other hand, is different.
