I'm a liberal arts person, but I also love science. I think I may want to double major in biology or biochemistry plus English or International Relations. But how IS Yale's science program? The school certianly is not known for it.

what do you mean not known for it? yale is one of the top three or four scientific research institutes in the world....
someone posted some #s, that yale has more research per student than any school except caltech and MIT. also yale has the highest placement rate into the top science grad programs, the NSF fellowship numbers someone posted shows that its tied with "Caltech, Swarthmore, Harvey Mudd, Princeton, MIT, Harvard, Williams and Stanford".
Gourman Report's premed ranking is "1. Caltech, 2. MIT, 3. Yale, 4. Harvard, 5. Johns Hopkins, 6. Amherst, 7. Princeton, 8. Swarthmore, 9. Columbia, 10. Stanford"
i think you are misled from something. true yale is more famous for arts and humanities because it is the best in the world for that stuff. but its one of the top three or four in sciences too.
