I saw somewhere on this board that Cornell had a 86% medical school placement rate! That's really high...may even be higher than Johns Hopkins.

confused, I'd stick with the Ivies over amherst. Among the Ivies, Dart, Brown and Columbia are all good schools, although Cornell probably has the most name recognition (here and internationally). You have to remember that a school is viewed as a whole, which means undergrad as well as grad, so most people look at Cornell's amazing grad schools along with it's undergrad to get a full picture. I'm don't think Dartmouth and Brown have many good grad schools, but their undergrad is good too.

You simply can't go wrong with either of the three Ivies

Daphne_C,
In 2002 Cornell's acceptance rate to medical schools was 80%. In 2003 Cornell's acceptance rate was 76%(170/223). see
http://www.career.cornell.edu/HealthCareers/acceptedApplied.html
Hopkins has >90% acceptance rate to medical schools (98% in 2003) and 95% rate to law schools. See page 47 on
http://www.jhu.edu/admis/pdf/2003viewbook.pdf
In 2002, there were 240 applicants for medical schools from JHU (class size ~1000) and 205 applicants from Cornell (Class size ?). See
