good stats...it really depends on what college in cornell you are applying to and what your major is going to be

i want to apply to the college of sciences for premed (majoring in bio)

my friend applied to cas for premed as a bio major also. her stats were somewhat better than yours but she got waitlisted. don't give up hope though...she just wasn't lucky enough and there was something they didn't like about her. if your from New York your chances would be better for agriculture and life sciences (and about 15k less for tuition)...they also have a bio major.

Your stats are a bit better than mine and I got into CAS regular decision. Don't be too worried. However, I had a lot of community service if that means anything...

Stats-wise, you're fine. Now work on that compelling essay. I think essays are an essential part of the application process. Just write and let your true self shine through.

My stats were very similar (minus the Persian part! ;) and I got into CAS... (Astronomy)

I had one absolutely great recommendation I believe (I never read it, but she writes soooo well it makes me feel like a first grader), so make sure you pick a good rec person as well as take some time on the essays. I did all my essays over one weekend, and didn't take the time to break them down and look at them... Believe me, it's not worth the three months worrying if you ruined your shot... Take your time with your essays.

Community service-wise, here's what I did:
1.) Key Club (President)- tons of activities form visiting the nursing home to blood drives
2.) National Honor Society (Vice Prez)- controlled the tutoring system in my school
3.) Connections (Vice Prez)- helped to start this service learning group that "connects" other students to doing volunteer work in the area
4.) Youth Coummunity Foundation (secretary)- started the fundraiser "Koins 4 Kids" in my school
