Hey- just got back from Cornell and I received two mailings from my college (a letter from a student ambassador and a letter recognizing my acceptance as a Human Ecology Deans Scholar). You apparently receive a one-time credit of $600.00 to your spending account and receive special privileges to enter into dean's scholars seminar classes. What exactly is this program and how many students become part of it?

Anyone able to describe what a Deans Scholar is/how many people are offered it from each college?

Hey Peanut I am also a Deans Scholar for Human Ecology. The letter made it sound like it's only something for people in HumEc. Other than that, I'm as clueless as you! ;) I think we should be hearing more about it eventually. Anyways, congratulations! Are you definitely going to Cornell? I can't wait to go!!

Actually, I know the program exists in Arts and Sciences (there are about 160 students in the program out of 4000 students in the CAS), so I figured not every Human Ecology acceptee got one. What were your stats? Here's a quick low down of me....

SAT I: 1500
SAT II: 760-780 Average
AP's: 10
Honors: 12
GPA: 4.0 UW
Class Rank: No Ranking (Top 2 % though)

I'm still swaying between Cornell and a few other schools. Cornell would be my #1, minus it's location, weather and possibly it's size. They need to helicopter lift the entire Cornell Campus to within 20 minutes of NYC or Philadelphia or Boston, and then it would be perfect...Oh well, 11 days left to decide. I think I'm going to wait until May 1, just to be sure.
