I'm already going to major in MAE and am looking for some business courses. I'm planning on either double majoring in ORIE or Business. Which would you recommend?

First of all, you cannot double major in MAE and Business from the College of Engineering. Cornell's undergraduate business program is part of the CALS. If you really want to double major MAE and Business, then you have to be a student of both colleges (it's a very complicated issue). On the other hand, it's much easier to do MAE and ORIE or MAE and a management minor from the engineering college. If you really think you are a business person, I would strongly recommend you to be an ORIE major. It's quite difficult to double major in the college of engineering due to all the requirements.

Been wondering for a long time...

it's really one major OR&IE . Basically you get good opportunities majoring in ORIE or business outside of engineering. ORIE is considered easier than the rest of engineering.

I have an MS OR, that I got in the early 1990s. I had a choice of getting that degree or an MBA. I belive that the OR degree is one of the most versatile degrees offered by any university anywhere. It qualifies you for a broad range of specialties, and the demand for OR practitioners far exceeds the supply. My wife and many of my friends got MBAs, and their degree tends to disappear in the context of the overall resume, especially after years in the work force. I would highly recommend an OR degree.
