To those of you whe were deffered during the ED process, then admitted during RD, can you tell us what you did, if anything after recieving the news? Did you write any letters? If so, what about... etc. etc.

That would be me. Here's what I wrote in another topic about appealing a rejection/deferral:
I was deferred from Cornell early decision. I didn't do much academic wise that was diffferent from my regular schoolwork (I did manage to get a bit of a higher average but nothing major). But, I did write letters to Cornell each month about the craziest things. I even went so far as to say that the dean of admissions was not my favorite person at the moment when I learned I was deferred. Then I talked about a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. When I wrote the letters, I wrote them thinking I would not get into Cornell, so I just relaxed and I was myself for a change. My application was too polished and formal. I let my true self shine through in my letters. Just be yourself and try to relax about it. Just say how much you want to go to the school and how it's still your 1st choice.
Oh, and it also helped that my college counselor wrote them a letter every month also. She also called them every few weeks to "badger" them about my application and stuff. I think that they only accepted me to never have to hear from her or me again lol... so maybe bothering them a little might help.

1)wrote rather dramatic letter around december 15th (kinda regret it now - a bit too melodramatic)
2)sent in an alumnus rec around Jan. 25
3)sent in new essay + 2 writing samples around Feb. 20th
4)wrote a little email to regional admission leader offering some updates, March 5th

*L*, Cornell_Hopeful, that sounds like one of my Emory essays. I talked about the craziest things. But then again I also don't know whether I got in or not, so hmm...

yeah as a cornell deferee i only wrote one letter. i was afraid of annoying the admissions office and thus decreasing my chances. Im glad ur method worked for you though.
