How is the college life at Columbia, because of the urban-nyc location, does it have the traditional feel of a college or not ??

Hi Sophmichael,
Columbia will actually feel like much more of a college than those in less crowded areas of the country -- partly because you have access to the surroundings of New York, and campus will seem so much more intimate inside the gates, where you'll inevitably spend most of your time. I actually find it very difficult to convince myself that I'm in Manhattan without actually taking the time to stroll around the city. You'll come out of your dorm and see the old buildings, the lawns, and even trees! Although Columbia doesn't really match its surroundings in appearance, I'll be very careful not to imply that the city isn't a huge contributor to academic and social life.

You shouldn't hold your breath too long for a reply. Maybe the only residents here at College Confidential are College hopefuls; I don't think I'll be on this site next year.
