Hey guys. I was curious, exactly what kind of effect do your grades Freshman year have? I did ok, I had a B+ average or so. Will this effect me for the worse? My grades have gone up to A-/A range now. We don't use the standard GPA system so I am not exactly sure what it may be.

Princeton doesn't count them, other schools take a look but don't weigh them as heavily as soph, junior and senior year grades.

You are in the EXACt same situation I am in. Just try to keep up your class rank....where do you live and what kind of school?

B+ freshman year is fine. Just pull it up for the rest of HS and you will be on track.

But what if your grades from freshman year lower your class rank?

Therein lies the caveat. Though they don't explicitly consider your freshman grades, they do consider your class rank, which is determined in part by those grades.

Go figure.

I honestly think that kids who go to a school that does not offerclass rank have an even bigger advantage. I mean then they do not know how your B+ average looks compared to the rest of the school. I mean at some schools straight A's, when compared to the rest of the class, are not the best. I go to a very hard college prep school where 25% of the students are VERY serious students. They all strive for the best grades. It is really hard to compete with that competition. I believe that I would look so much better if it was not for class rank. errrrrrr....it is just so unfare! lol...sry for the outburst.
