A kid from my school got into Harvard with a 1400, while another with a 1580 got deferred from Columbia. In this insane world of college admissions, anything is possible.

Ah, insane is a misplaced word. There is a method to their madness.

Stop reducing yourself to a number. The process is too complex for mere mortals to understand.

ITS NOT ALL ABOUT SATS!!! They're not SO important that thay'll keep you out if you don't have a 1500-1600. According to a recent survey, SATs rank only 6th or 7th in importance for admissions. there is less emphasis on them due to prep courses.

yea...i know a friend who got in with a 1200...anything is possible..good luck i applied there too...and also its not all about the SATS. I dont know why people worry so much about the SATs. The material tested in it is a joke. You do nothing like that in college. Just have confidence..good luck!!

SAT's aren't everything but don't underplay them, either. Statistically, the odds drop dramatically every 50 points or so. All the examples of people who got in with low SAT's don't invalidate the numbers.

I read an article recently that suggested the SATs are losing a lot of importance in the college admissions race due to other tests that more accurately depict performance in college level courses - e.g. Aps, SAT IIs, IBs. I think they are beginning to focus more on these scores. Dont worry - admissions is a crapshoot and anything could happen. One of my friends was deferred from Yale w/ a 1600 while another was accepted at Penn with a 1300-ish score. The latter was an atletic recruit so it kind of nullifies my point - but i think u get the idea.

it shouldn't be a surprise that some 1600 sat folk are also very good in other areas; that's how they get in
