OK....Check this out:

SAT-1420 (Math:760, Verbal:660)
GPA-4.0 Unweighted, 5.8666 Weighted
SATII- Writing:780 (perfect essay score, btw)
Math IIC:740 (that was 2nd time, first was
700)
U.S History:740
Chemistry:720
Physics:690
*If you take more than 3 SAT II's, does
Princeton only consider the three highest?

AP- Sophomore: Calculus BC:5 (5 on Calculus AB
subscore as well)
Chemistry:5
European History:5

Junior: Physics C Mechanics:5
U.S History:5
Statistics:4
Human Geography:4
English Language:3 (ugh)
*btw, I also took a Linear Algebra dual
enrollment course at my local university and
got an A

Prospective Senior year Schedule-
AP Biology
AP Gov/Economics
AP English Lit.
AP World History
Hon. Spanish 3
*Multivariable Calculus/Differential Equations (for the first time this dual enrollment course with the local university is being offered at my school since many students had finished AP Statistics as juniors)

I have a lot of community service and extracurricular stuff I dont feel like typing..(Trust me, I'm not being conceited here). But JUST BASED ON THIS academic profile, and the following:
- I live in Miami, Fl
- was born and lived in Brazil until I
was 5 (Portugese was the first
language I learned)
- my U.S history teacher (who I plan
to get a letter of recommendation
from)was a Princeton undergrad
- I have been an accomplished 7 year
violinst

how would you rate my chances of acceptance(on a
scale of 1-10) into Prinecton Early Decision?

Thanks, much appreciation

Now THAT is an inflated GPA!

By Serene (Serene) on Monday, July 14, 2003 - 12:58 pm: Edit

Hm... your AP and SAT correlation is weird... 5 on calc bc and 740 on math 2c... 5 on Physics c and 690 on SAT II physics.. hehe =P

but excellent stats.

By Aqdy5 (Aqdy5) on Monday, July 14, 2003 - 02:05 pm: Edit

Its not that inflated at all...Here's the formula
(#of honors classes+ 2(#AP classes))/15, then take that number and add it to your unweighted GPA. In my case, I have taken 12 honors classes, 8 APs, and have a 4.0 unweighted GPA, giving me my 5.8666 weighted GPA.

5.8666? I'd say that's a bit excessive

do the math man...

By Natalia (Natalia) on Tuesday, July 15, 2003 - 11:30 pm: Edit

serene - I got a 5 on calc BC and a 750 on math 2c... I figure it's because they're kind of different in terms of the TYPE of math. I'm much more of a calc person than I am a trig and log and stuff-that-was-on-math2c person.

yea, and plus, SATII descriminates more in the score (i.e 780, 770, 760, etc) where as AP gives a descrimination within a range of scores (180-120=5, etc). So its not too much of deviation in reflecting one's knowledge of a subject. May I also add, that I took the mechanics section of AP Physics C where as the SATII also had Electro-magnetism,waves, and nuclear physics as well-curriculim that I did not study in the class.

hm yeh math 2c is more precalc rite? so yeh i can see how that might happen

i have no freaking clue how my school works gpa.everything is so unclear !! haha go me!

do you know spanish? can you speak portuguese fluently still? just wondering.

its wierd. im almost exactly like the opposite of you, at least academically speaking. i rock more at the language/social science kinda subjects, and suck on the math. just like you ive got some good scores in math, but you can tell that its not my passion. very interesting...i thought anyway. (ive got the same musician/good ecs goin.)

since no one answered your question, "how would you rate my chances of acceptance(on a
scale of 1-10) into Prinecton Early Decision?"...i think ill take a stab at it.

you have as much of a chance as i do. we can suffer until dec 15 together.

princetonrocks, i know a bit of spanish and portuegese, i cant speak portuguese fluently though. Oh btw, i've decided on doing princeton regular decision, and instead have applied to yale single choice early action. Thatll probably make a significant difference in my chance of being accepted.

They'll consider ALL of your SAT IIs.

How did you get a 5 on the Calc BC test as a sophomore but only a 4 in Stat as a junior? I took stat last year as a junior, and it was not hard. Im taking Calc BC now, and its definitely harder.
