i am thinking about applying to Dartmouth. For the heck of it I might.
I have crappy stats:
SAT 1=1100
SAT 2=Writing 600, Math 1C 650, US His 600
GPA=3.4 weighted (i have taken 5 honors, 2ap, and will take 2 more ap and one more honors)
i am a white catholic, no legacy
But what will hopefully pull me over is my EC's and recs:
Eagle Scout
Pres of German Club
have my own internet radio show
Ass. Lighting Manager for plays
Peer Jury (we sentence juveys who committed minor offenses)MODERATOR
Pres of YOUTHNET 16 of Chicago
On the City-Wide Youth Council
in the SAM program (stopping alcohol to minors which i try to buy beer in a store for undercover cops)
I am a academic mentor at school
{there are a few more i cant think of}
plus i go to a prestigious Catholic prep school in IL
and all the teachers love me
Can i get in? What do u think?

Well, I am no college admissions officer, but you have, um, "unique" EC's. Give it a shot, i guess. I also want dartmouth as my num 1 school.
Ok, here are my stats. Do I stand any chance at brown as a long reach. If not, any other Ivy's (dartmouth, cornell)?

GPA-4.0 uw 4.6 w
SAT I-760M 750 V (second try, my first try stats are on other posts)
SAT II- Math IIC 800 Writing 780 Chem 760 WorldHist 750
Rank- unknown prolly top 5% ( pretty good highschool, we send 15-20 to Ivy League schools per year)
EC's-
Boy scout - eagle scout, sr. patrol leader, troop guide.
Forensics- Debate club, have gotten awards
Model United Nations- secretary,
Science Olympiads- treasurer/awards

how the hell does everyone on this website have GPA's over 4.0? You have a tremendous shot. The difference will be how you present yourself to the committee. Really pounce on the opportunity to emphasize your leadership qualities by listing them and maybe even using them in your essays-Eagle Scout essay? Just steer clear from the ordinary and you should be fine. You'll have an advantage if you are currently at a prestigious high school.
From what i've heard, brown is the easiest to get into, then cornell, then dartmouth. Good Luck!

I'm always fascinated by people that ask "how do you people have GPA's over 4.0?". Most high schools have weighted scores for honors and AP classes. For example, an A in an Honors course will get you a 5.0, whereas an A in an AP will get you a 6.0 (or a 5.0 like my school). Difference in scaling also makes a difference, but extra credit is usually given to honors/AP courses.

It's just an accomplishment to be over aa 4.0!

I go to a Public school which was ranked top ten by wall street journal (pub schools) like 3 years back. We send 15-20 to IVIES a year, thats not including stanfords, swarthmores, middlebury's and the like. Its not a prestigious highschool. But its very good.

Hi

This is a message to the kid who wants to get in but thinks he's too "stupid". No one and definitely not you from the look of your ECs is too stupid. from the look of your ecs, you are not stupid at all. You're just not suited to the test scores "intelligence-gathering" method. You may want to beef up your application with many many more rigorous academic classes you can take. Excel in those you have a talent for. Write an essay explaining how you would use your Dartmouth education to change the world, especially since you are white and catholic. Just try, pray and you never know. The best will happen.
