not really a 'chances' question, although 'likely' or 'not likely' ratings are welcomed : )
is this a good mix of colleges to apply to?
Stanford (EA)
Harvard, Princeton,Yale
Rice
Northwestern, Northwestern HPME
UCLA, UCB, UCI
Wellesley
By mix, I mean, in terms of selectivity. I know I'm aiming high but have I got enough safeties to be sure of having somewhere to go? (I do know that the colleges are different = ].)
some vague stats (sorry - i know vague makes things difficult):
1600 SAT1, 800 writing
math and chem just taken: math, should be 800 or very close.
chem - consider it bombed.
my ECs are only average. I've got plenty of leadership, but only within the school, nothing national or international or really special. I bit worried - I've done a lot, because I'm fairly well-rounded, but nothing sticks out.
teacher recs, good.
essay: having trouble finding something to write on, so they will probably be unremarkable. however, the writing itself shouldn't hurt me. I've never really had trouble writing essays.
high school record: straight As. predicted all 7s for IB - bonus points not predicted.
thanks for your time!

majors: bio sci/premed/bioengineering sort of thing. or, undeclared. Anyone got advice on which?
Again, thanks for your time!

I'd say you're definitely in at all except the first 4, and even there you've got a great shot. A 1600 always gets a second look.
