My friend is from Pakistan. She moved to England when she was 5, I think, then to America. She speaks English without an accent but also speaks another language at home (urdu, pashto, punjabi, arabic...not sure). She said that she need to take the TOEFL. Does she? It doesn't seem like she should have to. Thanks

in most cases, she should not have to take the TOEFL. Most colleges do not make students take it if you get above a certain score on verbal SAT, or have been going to an english speaking school for some number of years. Your friend should contact the admissions offices of each college that she's interested in and explain her situation; they will then tell her what she should do instead of taking it

ther same thing with me...except i was born here (USA)...and my first language was both English and GUjrati (a language from india)...
and i speak gujrati at home...so the colleges are going to make me take the TOEFL...but i decided that im just going to say that ENglish is my first language and the i speak both ENglish and Gujrati at home...that way i don't have to take the TOEFL (cuz my english is perfectt!!)...lol
