Discus: College Admissions: Schools w/o teacher recs?
By Abeppu (Abeppu) on Tuesday, October 05, 2004 - 01:53 am: Edit

So I was preparing materials to give to teachers writing recommendations for me, but when I got to the application for the UC schools, I couldn't find any such form, or mention to teacher recs. Same with the application for the University of Washington. Do these schools not have teacher recs or am I blind...or crazy? And if they don't have teacher recs, how would you guys change the rest of your applications to make up for the loss?

no ucs do not use teacher recs. infact schools that do use them may only read like 10%, and that is only if you are on the margin between getting accepted and getting rejected.

You are right. Neither the UC's or UW have teacher recs required.
Make up for what loss??

Majority of schools, including most public universities, neither request recs nor want them and will not rely on them even if submitted. UCs and UWash are among those.

Tulane University doesn't want a teacher rec unless you are going for the President's(or whatever its called) scholarship

Penn State did not have a teacher rec either.
