hello.

does WHO write the evaluation matter?
classes s/he thought, degree s/he has.. and stuff

like i have two potential recommenders (write "official evaluation")

--my English 3 teacher(who has a lot of degree, including PhD), taught me only 1 class in junior
--and my former ESOL(9-10th) teacher(no PhD -0-), 2 classes in 9-10th

does degree an evaluator has matter (even though they are teachers from same HS)??? and.. is more classes s/he did teach better?
what should i do, what should you do???

!!! oh.. i've involved in thespian troupe and wanting to get a additional recommendation from troupe director.. (about artistic/hardworking;; wise)
what do you think?? does the adcom even care about additional recommendations???
how many would be .. okay???

currently i am think about sending 2 official evaluations(one science, one from above two) and 2 additional recommendations(math teacher, the director) ::: is it too many??

oh.. if you know, thoughts on additional essay would be helpful too!!

thnx in advance!!!

u can basically get anyone to write a rec for u as long as he/she knows u fairly well. Unless the college specifies, it's usually one acadmic teacher and someone else. Use this effectively. Try to find someone who can elicit other characteristics of yourselves that arent apparent in a teacher's rep.

well i have two teachers who knows me pretty well. but dont know to whom i should i ask.

i believe both would write me good rec. but i think my former ESOL teacher would know me slightly better since i had her for 2 years. in contrast i had PHD teacher only for one english class.

so i am asking whether adcom cares about what kinda degree a recommender has.. do ya know???

also how many extra recommendation would be "okay"??
i am thinking about sending 2 extra recommendation along with 2 official evaluation.. do you think it's too many??

Dreaming - IMO the person that will be the most likely to write a glowing report is the one that you should ask, if you do not want to ask both of them.

I don't think the degree matters as much as the contect of the evaluation. Taking this to the extreme, if the PhD wrote a boiler-plate letter, and your other teacher knows that you are the perfect candidate for that particular school, and can communicate this effectively, then it is obvious that the non-Phd is the one that you would want to have write the eval.

Good Luck!
