I would like to know as being an African American is it really easier to get into a university such as the UC's. I ask this b/c I was having a discussion with a friend last night and he said that a Caucasian person could have all A's and an African American could have all B's and it would be more likely that the African American would get in.
lets say the college would be:
UCLA, UCSD, UCB

You speak of such generality that this sounds like flame bait if there ever was one.

Actually, the UC's are prohibited from using race as a factor in admission. A factor they can consider is geographical area including being from inner-city low income areas and thus racial minorities may be able to get a plus factor that way.

i heard that uc's can't use affirmative action, i think in the case of uc's anything goes, altough like drusba said they do take into consideration the area you live.

UCs can't use affirmative action? says who?
the supreme court ruled that race could be a factor in any university, so long as there is no race quota. I don't know much about the California system specifically, but in general if you are an under represented minority a 1200 SAT will look very good (if you get a 1400 schools will be fighting over you), and I'm sure it's similar when it comes to grades

No, AA is over. UC's cannot use race as a factor in admission criteria. Sorry to bust your bubble guy.
