I got a letter last year that I've been selected for Who's Who and, based on the other threads, I figure that it isn't the most important award in the world, but it's not to be shunned, either. However, there's a second Who's Who program at my high school. Every year, 2 freshmen, 4 sophomores, 8 juniors, and 16 seniors receive it. Is there any way to distinguish between the two? Is there any way to explain/clarify on my applications that the second Who's Who award is not something that goes to everyone who has a certain GPA? Thanks, y'all!!!

well, im assuming your school award is not called the "whos who among american high school students," or else im sure there would be some copyright issues involved. call it the "whos who among X high school students," (one of 16 chosen) or leave it off the app.

According sources I have encountered, my son was invited two different years, he signed up the first time. Who's Who is a scam even though they initially don't want you to send money but then they try to get you to buy the book, key chains, etc. S's math teacher in high school said it was a scam and so have a couple of college reps we talked to. It isn't a good thing to put on college app! My husband was even sent a Who's Who for Businessmen! Sorry.
