Okay guys, I'm not even in the top quarter of my class. The top QUARTER!
But I snagged a 1590 and near-perfect board scores, spent a week honing my essay to perfection, gathered outstanding recommendations and amassed an impressive extracurricular and service record.
After receiving rejections from Berkeley, UCLA, Brandeis, Hopkins, U. Chicago, Georgetown, and U. Penn --- northwestern and duke accepted me with open arms! (as did USC, Vandy, and Wash U.)
The lesson to be learned-- the more lines you throw out, the more you will inevitably catch! DON'T LIMIT YOURSELF, and never be self-defeating in the admissions process...
you truly never know.
