I got waitlisted at Johns Hopkins University and really want to go there. Is there something I can do (besides sending them a letter with updates) that will increase my chances of getting in off the waitlist? Also, does anyone know the amount of the deposit you have to pay to Berkely to reserve your spot since that's the amount I'll have to forfeit if I get into JHU?

I'd suggest you go to their Open House on April 22 and try and talk to someone who counts. I'll be there, although I'm still not sure which school I'll pick among JHU, UCLA and UCSD.

I'm very interested in your reasons for preferring JHU to Berkeley.

JHU has a slightly better premed program and is a lot smaller than Berkeley. It's also on the East Coast which I wouldn't mind living in. Also, my dad's friend lives in MD and thinks she can get me an intership with her company.
