Got letters from Harvard, Cornell, and Yale as a junior? Does this mean anything, or do they give them to anyone who can breathe? Just wondering...

I got letters from all three as a junior last year and I was rejected by Harvard and Yale and waitlisted at Cornell if that means anything. They aren't sent out to everyone though, only students that are somehow recommended to the schools as promising students (your high school, PSAT/SAT/ACT plan/ACT scores, AP scores, scholarships, etc., etc.) and I assume you didn't request them if you are posting a question like that.

They mean nothing. Anyone can write or call and request their literature.
