I am an international applicant to Wellesley College, from China. But I waws put into the waitlist pool. I am really disappointed cuz Wellesley is really my first dream choice. I am also applying to Columbia College, Yale, and Boston University as a transfer. So...I would wait more time to get their decisions?
anybody who is applying W and will not go?
Thanks

Have you taken any SATs?
Are you a chinese citizen?
My SAT 1330, just rejected from MIT
By Kw_Michelle (Kw_Michelle) on Tuesday, April 01, 2003 - 08:37 pm: Edit
I Haven't cuz I didn't know there was a SAT center in Shanghai, China. I live in Beijing now. So... I just took TOEFL-637.
I am a Chinese citizen, of course, are you?
By Amylase (Amylase) on Wednesday, April 02, 2003 - 01:24 am: Edit
Yup.
But i did my stuffs here in the US.
I've been here for a while.
I didn't took TOEFL, cause i thought that's not for me(easy).
I just got rejected from MIT and stanford.
So you only took a TOEFL?
Have you got any impressive awards?
you said you are a transfer, so you must be already in a college in china.
not to discourage you, but i know a lot smart internationals with good stats got turned down.
My stats were not teffibly bad, but i already got three rejections!
not even waitlisted, flat out rejected!
anyway good luck to your college hunt, and your answers to above questions are highly appreciated.

Yale decision will be available online tomorrow, please get it posted.
thanks

By Amylase (Amylase) on Wednesday, April 02, 2003 - 02:23 am: Edit
I did,
SAT II Physics 800
SAT II math iic 790
SAT II bio 790
where are you heading?
By Kw_Michelle (Kw_Michelle) on Wednesday, April 02, 2003 - 03:44 am: Edit
Amy...I did apply all those college as a transfer,
so.. i think Yale's track application online that is availabe now is n't for transfer. I stil have to wait.
I took TOEFl and GRE,
TOEFL 637, 5.5 TWE
GRE 2335.
I understand the requirements for intl students would be really high. but I won't give up Wellesley. also, I have assureed them that I wish to stay on the waiting list, mentioned HEARTILY that W is top choice.
I had interview w/ Wellesley last year. Do you think it worked?
Amy...best of luck.
And what other schools you still wait?
Wish....do you have some encourage suggestion? what I should do now? besides, some truth discouragement
By Amylase (Amylase) on Wednesday, April 02, 2003 - 05:09 am: Edit
transfer admissions is pretty different from freshmen admissions. I don't know much about it.
But since you wantta to get in wellesley, you should definitely send them something impressive to persuade them pick you out of the waitlist.
I'm waiting for yale and harvard. I'm almost sure they will reject me. I'll know tomorrow.
Good luck
By Kw_Michelle (Kw_Michelle) on Wednesday, April 02, 2003 - 06:37 am: Edit
sure, I am going to send them something impressive. but I am just wondering what is something highly impressive !! recommendation? or transcript, scores? or new honors and awards? Perhaps. Everything I consider as impressive things they may treat as unusefulness.
Please give me some....idears.
I thought I sent many impressive supports.
Now, I am really disappointed.
Tomorrow maybe a big day for you. Best of Luck

Hey have you seen Yanhao's profile yet?
He looks smart, doesn't he?
By Kw_Michelle (Kw_Michelle) on Wednesday, April 02, 2003 - 08:42 am: Edit
Whats mean He looks smart. I did see his profile just now. Looks handsome. How you could see looks smart. We dont know.... whether he is smart just looking his picture.
But sounds smart. Because he will apply Yale, Harvard, blah blah blah... when he is a high school student.
Hey, Yanhao, is the picture in your profile really yours?
By Amylase (Amylase) on Wednesday, April 02, 2003 - 08:48 am: Edit
Sound smart?
no,
Applying to top schools does not necessarily imply smart, because he can get rejected.
I applied to only elite schools, but already rejected by MIT, Stanford.
By Amylase (Amylase) on Wednesday, April 02, 2003 - 08:52 am: Edit
Yanhao,
Not to discourage you, but aiming high is good, but almost all the guys rejected from are as good as, if not better than you. You gotta pick some safety schools.
Get rejected from those schools is extremely easy.
I got rejected from Stanford and MIT.
rejected, not even waitlisted, flat out rejected!!
By Gettingnowhere (Gettingnowhere) on Wednesday, April 02, 2003 - 05:08 pm: Edit
I got waitlisted at MIT, but was accepted to Northwestern University McCormick School of Engineering, where I'm very likely to end up. Good luck to all of you waiting for decisions!
By Gettingnowhere (Gettingnowhere) on Wednesday, April 02, 2003 - 05:16 pm: Edit
Also waitlisted at UPenn.
By Amylase (Amylase) on Wednesday, April 02, 2003 - 06:17 pm: Edit
