Hey. I really hate this emotional roller coaster week. I'm so confused about this. i got waitlisted at a school a considered i had a "regular" chance at, accepted to one that i think is way harder, and flat out rejected from one that kids with lower stats at my school got into. Anyone else have to deal with this?

Pisces, that only goes to show that admissions officers are smarter than you ever thought. Here's why:

1) You got waitlisted at a "regular" college because they KNOW that there is a chance that with your stats, you'll get into a more difficult school, and may NOT attend their school.

2) You got into the "harder" college because they thought your abilities matched their needs.

3) And third, you got rejected by an "easy" one, because they figured that with your scores you're likely not to attend.

Hey, admissions officers are getting pretty good at this, aren't they?? ha!

mmm.. im not too sure about that.. i have a 1200 in the SAT and 3.4 GPA and thats about average for BU and BC asks for way more than that and got accepted there. so thats kinda weird.. getting wait listed to BU with what would be "normal" and getting accepted to BC (which asks way more than that)

I think admissions officers suck. I've been rejected at every safety I applied to except one, waitlisted or rejected at my good matches, and I've yet to see what happens with my reaches. Every letter wishes me luck with my future college endeavors, but at this rate I won't have any future college endeavors because everybody is so busy covering their asses. Tufts Syndrome is way out of control this year. That, and the class of 2003 is supposed to be the most competitive and largest class that colleges have ever seen. At least I had warning on that because I saw it on the "Today Show" a couple of years ago.

Pisces: What happened with Middlebury?

By Cara811888 (Cara811888) on Sunday, March 30, 2003 - 01:24 pm: Edit

Kalitiha-did u get into mt holyoke? That was like my only safety and all this is freaking me out!

By Pisces (Pisces) on Sunday, March 30, 2003 - 01:46 pm: Edit

Kalitiha- I got into Middlebury- Thank God. I was seriously hysterical after being rejected by Tufts and waitlisted at Bates- I totally thought i was going to be rejected and have to go to like my 6th choice or something. Midd. was my top choice, so I'll be going there. What happened with you?

By Kalitiha (Kalitiha) on Monday, March 31, 2003 - 03:49 am: Edit

Rejected at Mt. Holyoke, widely considered one of my safeties. Waitlisted at Middlebury. But, I need a lot of financial aid so I don't think that the waitlist will help me because if people get off of it, they have the ability to pay full or almost full costs.

By Cara811888 (Cara811888) on Monday, March 31, 2003 - 04:17 am: Edit

Yeah tell me about it..middlebury waitlisted me as well and they said that they gotta a coupla hundred people on the list ...frankly I think that all this crap about being need blind and the ability to pay not affecting the admission decision is all bull. I got waitlisted at connecticut as well but they more or else admitted that its coz I'm an international student needing almost a full ride...so whats the college u got in to?

By Andrea909 (Andrea909) on Wednesday, April 02, 2003 - 10:50 pm: Edit

Is that definately true-that if you're waitlisted all the funds are depleted and you have to pay full cost? I mean, have there been any cases where a waitlisted student got enough aid? If not there is no point of me being on 2waitlists for another tense month!!
