which school's undergraduate engineering program is better? i plan to go into EE. my mom seems to love RPI for no reason and she keeps urging me to go there. personally, i would choose NU because of its diversity, location and reputation, assuming that they are of the same level for eng. i visited RPI last november and i think i liked it although the city was quite dirty. i just want to know which school is more worth the money?

That is such a tough choice. I agree with you that Northwestern is much more prestigious. But in terms of engineering, RPI is better. Northwestern also probably has a better social life and quality of life in general. It really depends on what you find to be more important.
