I got REJECTED. I'm alright with it since I kinda expected to be rejected.

By Frick (Frick) on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 02:13 pm: Edit

you got it in the mail today? damn

By Nocalguy (Nocalguy) on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 02:18 pm: Edit

Yeah. Thin, small envelope.

By Frick (Frick) on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 02:19 pm: Edit

esh... not so happy with my chances, lol

By Nocalguy (Nocalguy) on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 02:35 pm: Edit

LOL Hopefully you guys have more luck than I did.

By Anketre11 (Anketre11) on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 02:38 pm: Edit

Yikes, sorry Nocalguy. Would you mmind sharing the basics of your app? I'm a nervous wreck lol :)

By Tenisghs (Tenisghs) on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 02:39 pm: Edit

Nocalguy, although I did not apply to Stanford, it is frustrating when the school email network is DOWN (as in HTTP 404 down!) I cannot check my email on colleges! Now THAT is a wreckoning!

By Nocalguy (Nocalguy) on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 02:40 pm: Edit

1550 SAT I
800 SAT IIC Math
800 SAT II Chem
780 SAT II Writing

3.97 GPA (unweighted)

Almost no EC's to speak of:
Journalism
3-4 volunteer experiences
Octagon Club

That's why I didn't see myself as having a good chance to get in.

By Anketre11 (Anketre11) on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 02:43 pm: Edit

Thanks for sharing...methinks i expect a thin envelope soon...

By Anketre11 (Anketre11) on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 02:45 pm: Edit

Btw, if any of you applied to Duke, do you know when the decisions will be up on the website? (no one's answering my other thread )

By Mikus (Mikus) on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 02:53 pm: Edit

7PM on Monday I believe.

By Sophiehut (Sophiehut) on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 02:53 pm: Edit

i got rejected from stanford too....hey calguy did you get the crap about being well qualified and how you must be dissapointed....i did...doesn't make me feel any better. But like you I never expected to get in. Looks like im NU bound. I still have to hear from Pomona, Upenn and Brown, but I'm assuming Stanford is a sign of the direction the other decisions are going. Good luck to all those waiting!!!

By Nocalguy (Nocalguy) on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 03:01 pm: Edit

Yea. I overloaded my list with Ivies too. More rejections to come!

By Mikus (Mikus) on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 03:03 pm: Edit

You guys both live in CA?

I'm going to get rejected for sure, heh. This'll be fun :/

By Anketre11 (Anketre11) on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 03:05 pm: Edit

Mikus, i live in cali, so do you think 7pm applies to me..or rather 4 pm..? THanks!

By Tenisghs (Tenisghs) on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 03:09 pm: Edit

Mikus, just be happy you are not in my situation. You can't even check your own email!

By Mikus (Mikus) on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 03:10 pm: Edit

I would assume Duke would describe times in Duke-time. So 4PM for you I'd imagine.

By Tenisghs (Tenisghs) on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 03:10 pm: Edit

you* refers to me

By Anketre11 (Anketre11) on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 03:11 pm: Edit

Yay, thanks for your time

By Sophiehut (Sophiehut) on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 04:03 pm: Edit

nah i'm from the united kingdom....international students are getting a rough ride this year. haha or maybe it's just me

By Vizious (Vizious) on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 04:10 pm: Edit

Haven't gotten a letter yet from Stanford and I live in cali....

By Sophiehut (Sophiehut) on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 04:12 pm: Edit

no they email international students... email rejection is worse than a letter...trust me

By Crackcorn (Crackcorn) on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 04:13 pm: Edit

Me too neither. Nothing in Saturday mail.

By Mikus (Mikus) on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 04:15 pm: Edit

Well if it makes you feel any better... they supposedly send rejections and acceptances together-- so a delayed response has no indication of the final result...

By Vizious (Vizious) on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 06:23 pm: Edit

lol coo

By Lamp_Shade (Lamp_Shade) on Saturday, March 29, 2003 - 09:23 pm: Edit

They sent the mail out yesterday though... More than one day is hardly a delay. It's supposed to take 2-3.

By Mudambip (Mudambip) on Sunday, March 30, 2003 - 08:38 am: Edit

I know a boy who was rejected at Berkeley, but accepted at Stanford. His GPA was 3.8, SAT 1280, Violin Player, Good Basketball and Football player. His parents are employed at Stanford University.

By Desi (Desi) on Sunday, March 30, 2003 - 01:02 pm: Edit

So should we be expecting Stanford decisions monday-tuesdayish?

By Nocalguy (Nocalguy) on Sunday, March 30, 2003 - 02:17 pm: Edit

1280 SAT? I'm sure the fact his parents are employed at Stanford had nothing to do with his admission *wink, wink*

By Subjecttochange (Subjecttochange) on Sunday, March 30, 2003 - 02:47 pm: Edit

did his mother's name happen to be robin mamlet?

oh yeah, i got in, but the financial aid was more than ••••.

By L76 (L76) on Sunday, March 30, 2003 - 02:47 pm: Edit

I agree, Nocalguy ;)

By Frick (Frick) on Monday, March 31, 2003 - 01:41 pm: Edit

rejected

makes hs seem like a ••••••• waste of time... i'm sooo not going to try at life anymore

By Mikus (Mikus) on Monday, March 31, 2003 - 02:08 pm: Edit

Does Stanford priority-mail its decisions? Or regular?

By Frick (Frick) on Monday, March 31, 2003 - 02:25 pm: Edit

it was regular

By Mikus (Mikus) on Monday, March 31, 2003 - 02:29 pm: Edit

Screw.

Takes about 5 days to get to East Coast, huh? :/

By Frick (Frick) on Monday, March 31, 2003 - 02:31 pm: Edit

yeah, took 2 to arizona

By Thedad (Thedad) on Monday, March 31, 2003 - 04:46 pm: Edit

Frick, there are far worse things than being rejected by Stanford. If you're defining success/failure and general worthwhileness of life by this, you really need to go somewhere quiet and get your head on straight. IMNSVHO.

By Vizious (Vizious) on Monday, March 31, 2003 - 06:21 pm: Edit

Cali Resident. Got it in the Mail today. Rejected :)

but the letter wasnt too harsh, unlike Caltech's LOL

By Cboi (Cboi) on Monday, March 31, 2003 - 06:30 pm: Edit

Accepted!! wow. can't believe this ••••.

so cal resident.

By Cagal (Cagal) on Monday, March 31, 2003 - 07:27 pm: Edit

Rejected (Cali resident), and actually I'm pretty happy. I would have most likely turned them down anyways.. yes, I would have turned down Stanford...

Now which school should I pick... UCLA or Berkeley or USC (Business)

HELP! Need advice!

By Frick (Frick) on Monday, March 31, 2003 - 07:28 pm: Edit

nah.... it's not stan... it's everrrywhere

ie: caltech, mit, stan

:|

and by 'life', i meant 'academic life'... i figure now i'm gonna just wing it in college and have a lot more fun, at least

By Bioyuki (Bioyuki) on Monday, March 31, 2003 - 07:36 pm: Edit

Rejected, oh well, I still have Berkeley, go Bears!!!

By Bioyuki (Bioyuki) on Monday, March 31, 2003 - 07:37 pm: Edit

Cagal--

Def. goto Berkeley for business, thats what I plan on doing. Its a better b-school than USC plus it costs half as much.

By Crackcorn (Crackcorn) on Monday, March 31, 2003 - 07:41 pm: Edit

Waitlisted.

By Frick (Frick) on Monday, March 31, 2003 - 08:00 pm: Edit

i got into the UC schools (SD/LA/berk), but i'm out of state... not gonna pay that much for a freakin public university

By Crackcorn (Crackcorn) on Monday, March 31, 2003 - 08:30 pm: Edit

Anybody else get waitlisted? A flat-out reject would have been easier to deal with!

By Anketre11 (Anketre11) on Monday, March 31, 2003 - 08:31 pm: Edit

does anyone know how many people stanford generally waitlists, and how many people usually get OFF the list and into the school? thanks!

By Leebob (Leebob) on Monday, March 31, 2003 - 08:59 pm: Edit

Well the pressure is off - the Stanford reject letter saved me a month of agonizing over Palo Alto or Colorado Springs.

So now it's off to the ski slopes and the "wild blue yonder".

Go Air Force!!!

Signing off from this forum. So long and good luck to everyone in the Class of 2007!!!

By Wedesdo (Wedesdo) on Monday, March 31, 2003 - 09:03 pm: Edit

Got a fat package from Stanford today! :)

Even had a handwritten note on the acceptance letter alluding to my essay, which I assumed they liked.

HURRAY FOR STANFORD CLASS OF 2007!!!

By Thedad (Thedad) on Monday, March 31, 2003 - 09:44 pm: Edit

Cagal, *don't* pick USC. Their undergrad business program sucks dead fish with a straw, imo, and the so-called "USC family" is lot of marketing hype, as some have found out to their dismay. I've known some of their UG business grads and they were thick as a brick.

Now, UCLA doesn't have an UG business degree...don't know what Berkeley has. Making a decision between UCLA and UCB might come down to either major or which environment you prefer.

By Mzinn (Mzinn) on Monday, March 31, 2003 - 09:47 pm: Edit

Thedad, do you think there is any siginificant difference in how competitive (academically) it is at Berkeley and UCLA?

By Bioyuki (Bioyuki) on Monday, March 31, 2003 - 09:55 pm: Edit

Thedad, Berkeley's Haas School of Business Administration is one of the top undergraduate business programs in the nation. Its up there with Michigan's bschool and somewhat near Wharton and Sloan.

By Thedad (Thedad) on Monday, March 31, 2003 - 11:06 pm: Edit

Bioyuki, I thought there was something like that but I didn't trust my memory, was too lazy to check, and didn't want to post in error. :)

Mzinn, both are competitive enough but I think Berkeley is more intense. Otoh, Berkeley suffers from Sixties Flashback Syndrome and I lived through the Original, which was enough.

By Soccerfrenzy (Soccerfrenzy) on Saturday, April 05, 2003 - 01:21 am: Edit

I haven't scanned all of the messages, but anyone get rejected from Stanford and accepted by Ivy?

Curious....anyone from SoCal hear from Princeton? Can't wait....

By Chenny (Chenny) on Saturday, April 05, 2003 - 06:39 am: Edit

I haven't heard back from Stanford!!! I don't know if that's good or not. I live in Canada and no one from my school has either. Is this a bad thing?

To answer soccerfrenzy's question, I got into Columbia, but don't know about Stanford right now...

By Asndfkas (Asndfkas) on Thursday, October 02, 2003 - 06:12 pm: Edit

chenny i hear sometimes that they delay responses if theyre looking at u twice
