Many have claimed that they are accepted in Yale , Princeton, Cornell etc . Officially these results are not yet released . Does it mean that Those who are admitted are informed already. I am very much anxious as my son is awaiting decisions from about 8 universities , all Ivey’s . The fact that we have not heard anything mean that he is Rejected .

Not at all. Cornell has been sending them out. The others aren't really "official," but when they start sending you car decals and PIN numbers to sign up for their on-campus programs for admitted students, you take the hint ;-).

These applicants may have applied through the Early Action or Early Decision programs.

Cornell State schools have mailed or are in the process of mailing official letters, I believe.
The other colleges are generally sending out "likely letters" to those they most want to enroll for whatever reason (excellent academics, minority, sports...) that aren't officially an admission but really mean the same thing.
You are not rejected because you haven't heard from the schools yet.

No, the people who said that they're going to an ivy league school, are saying that for one of three reasons. First reason, which is the reason I said I'm going to Cornell, is because I got in early decision. Second reason is they may have gotten a likely letter from their first choice school, so they're pretty much in. Ot third possibility, they're lying
Don't worry. The ivies send out their decisions on April 2nd, so your son not hearing does not mean anything.

He already has EA offer from University of Chicago and Boston College and RA from Amherst. He applied to Yale for ED but was deferred . Then he applied to ALL the Ivies and is awaiting letters . He is not showing any anxiety but I am the worried Dad .

Mr.Ravi,
You sound like my dad!!! College admissions is ALL he talks and worries about. Another thing, if your son is an international applicant, you really don't have to worry since colleges send "likely letters" only indigenous applicants. I know this because my school (in New Delhi, India) sends many students each year to the Ivys and, according to my councilor, no one as far as she knows in the history of our school has received any such communications before the official decision date.
You have no reason to worry. Incidentally, I’ve applied to the same colleges as your son has, so, who knows, we might end up rooming together!

Hey Zulu, the bit about sending likely letters to only domestic students is not totally true. I know some internationals (including myself) who have received likely letters from Columbia or Cornell.
