Just some questions about app essays:
-Should you title your college essay?
-Can you use the words "Mom" and "Dad" and other sort of colloquial words? (swears if in dialogue?)
- Can you use quotes from books, movies, etc...?
I may have more later but if someone could answer these ones for now that'd be great. Thanks.

On the common app faq, it says that you should title your essay if it's just an open ended one. If you're answering a specific question, then say which number. I think a title wouldn't hurt, as long as you can think of a good one.

I think you should keep swearing to a minimum, although I think colloquialisms are fine. :P

i read a book that interviewed adcoms from top school. Swearing is likely to get your essay thrown in the trash.

yea i heard the same....be funny without swearing, and if you cant manage to that, tehn just drop the humor alltogether....i just disagree with duke abt the title thingie, i think i will title mine....the penn essay is a "pg 217 of 300 of ur autobiography"....i think i will create an interesting title for my autobiography and then put " -217- " at the bottom....nyway, it all depends on the essay and the person, but its NOT WRONG to title it
